October 25

2 white, 1 brown

October 24

2 white, 2 brown

One of the Buff Orpington hens was outside the coop in the morning. I did a count when I closed the coop and she was outside again. Found her brooding on 1 white and 2 brown eggs under a rose bush. I corralled her out and collected the eggs.

Morning of October 25 I found her brooding in the same spot - no eggs. Also saw breastbone of a chicken - and there is a missing Rhode Island Red, so I think this brooding has been an ongoing thing for a few weeks - and I lost a hen to predation as a result.

Next year I'll be getting chicks. 3 Rhode Island, 2 Barred Rock, 2 leghorn + meat birds.

Current flock:
Ancona         - 1
Americauna     - 3 + 3
Barred Rock    - 1
Buff Orpington - 3
White Leghorn  - 2

3 white layers, 6 green layers, 4 brown layers
add 5 brown layers, 2 white layers. Cull 3 older Americauna, Barred Rock.

end of 2017 flock:

Ancona         - 1
Americauna     - 3
Barred Rock    - 2
Buff Orpington - 3
Rhode Island R - 3
White Leghorn  - 2 + 2

5 white, 7 brown, 3 green
